Welcome to the Physical Education website for Thomas Clarkson Community College.

Please feel free to look through our resources and use this website.

If you have any comments or queries please do not hesitate to contact us from our contact us page.

The College is at the forefront of the 'BSF' (Building Schools for the future) and we have now registered for the 'Healthy Schools' initiative.

The School plays in local competitions and league and all the details and results can be found at www.ioe.thomasclarkson.cambs.sch.uk, which is the Isle of Ely competitions website.

Academy begins.....

Thomas Clarkson begins its Sports academy this term. All students were given their 'player layer' and Academy 'polo shirt' for the launch with the press. Mr Smith has worked hard in identifying our 100 gifted students into a 25 strong Academy. Look out for new applications during the Autumn term where we are looking to increase our numbers to 30+.
Mr Smith said: 'It was a delight to see all our identified students with such enthusiasm to begin the programme for the first year. I cannot wait to get things fully running.'

Dance festival

During National Sports Week nine schools from the Thomas Clarkson Family participated in the first ever family dance festival which was held in the TC sports hall. Schools represented were, Clarkson Infants, Elm Rd, Leverington, Murrow, Nene, Peckover, Ramnoth, St Peter’s and Wisbech St Mary.
160 children ranging from reception to yr 6 gathered together to provide an exciting repertoire of dances ranging from Country and Molly Dancing, The Hakka, Take 10, Wake and Shake and Street Dancing.
The Festival was ably supported by six Thomas Clarkson dance students - Eden Smallman, Emily Harley, Daniella Melton, Tom Chapman, Josh Garner and Josh Pitcher. They performed a dance which they had created themselves and which left the primary children open mouthed with admiration. They then taught a routine to everyone in the room including staff, to the music of Lady GaGa, which was then performed as The Grand Finale.
We wish the best of luck to 6yr old Poppy Gill from Nene Infants who performed a magnificent solo street dance and who will shortly be entering the World Championships.
Special thanks should be made to the children from Leverington who came in costume to perform the traditional Molly dancing, and to Mrs Tarsitono (head of performing arts a TCCC) for the time she spent preparing her dancers for the festival.

A wonderful afternoon was had by all. We are hoping to make it bigger and better next year and by inviting even more children to attend.

St. Ives Sports

"On Friday Jane Mackie and I took 14 special needs children to the Youth Games plus in Huntington. Their behaviour was superb and they took part in all the activities  such as Golf, Tennis, Archery, Climbing Wall and Multi skills that were on offer with great enthusiasm, proving to be a  great credit to team TCCC. The KS 3 boys also took part in the Tag Rugby  tournament while the others played Boccia which is a variation of Bowls. To watch their concentration and tactical moves while bowling balls at the jack was fascinating. We then met up for a big picnic at lunchtime! But the 3 KS 4 boys were missing. So Jane went off to look for them, only to find them still playing Boccia. To our surprise they had got to the Final so we all went to cheer them on. They won their last game 7-2 This meant they came 2nd overall . At the Presentation we were proud to watch them collect their medals Luke Cannon, Aaron Cole and Jonathan Briers (Captain) Well done to all the children, thanks to Jane for all the admin and organisation, certificates will be presented in assemblies and photos will be put on the school web site." Mrs Sandall 2010

Jody Cundy comes to TCCC

Top Link Conference

AMBASSADORS FOR TCCC
March 11th 2010 - Jack hunt school
We were selected to represent T.C.C.C. at a Sports Ambassadors Conference at The Jack Hunt School in Peterborough.
When we arrived we were given T-Shirts and shown to the main hall where we saw a presentation on ‘Young Leaders’. We met Tom Davis who is a British Champion in JUDO.  He will be representing us in The London Olympics.
We were then shown into one of the sports halls and were given booklets which we were asked to fill in.  The next activity involved creating a game and then demonstrating it to the other groups. All of the groups then discussed how to improve the various games that were shown.  This was scary but good fun.
We had a very enjoyable lunch which the school provided before the afternoon session began. This involved discussing a number of sporting activities that we could organize for Sports Relief Week and beyond.
We thought that the following activities could be included:
*Inter-form Dodge ball
*Badminton Tournament for Yr 7
*Rounders  Competition For Girls
*Yr7 Tennis
Lewis Mcconnachie has also offered to organise games for his Scouts Group.
We all really enjoyed the day and felt privileged that we were chosen to represent our school
We would like to thank the organisers.
Report by Connor Connolly, Lewis McConnachie, Katherine Borley, Chloe Warren.
